Feel free to conduct your out of character activities here.
I'll do my best to answer your questions and comments as quickly as possible.

This is also a good thread to comment on the misfortune of your fellow players and to crack wise with various wit and banter.

My fellow players will receive some misfortune if they do not make with the hurry, and the creation, and the ready to play...

Ok, I feel better, thanks :D

Take your time... really.

Yep. I'm well known to be a spiteful bastard. Seriously, did you see how bad he punked me in the Deathmatch Jr? :)

hey I got a pretty good chance of being on the same continent as you. I've been to Europe and Asia within the last month.

I only store my stuff in CA.

--
ODP, forgot to ask. as we are playing ourselves as characters - how much of our real life are we including? I've noticed a statement about kids, and I might include a g/f, but vaguely remember that real people don't get included into the game (especially with Immortal) or are we cool because Jed isn't around...

Chai - include as much of your real life details as you're comfortable with. Please no phone numbers and addresses, but if you want to say that you kiss your girlfriend goodnight and drive off in you V-Dub while bobbin' your head to some old school Ice Cube, that's totally cool.

I am most certainly not going to go the Jed route and use anyone's friends and family against them. Yeah, it makes for a grittier and more realistic story, but it's just kind of emotionally torturing, and I don't think it makes for a fun game for everyone involved. As such, I'll be attempting to extricate your characters from your real lives as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Excellent.

Question - was all the jibba-jabba on the radio supposed to mean anything? If it was, was it supposed to make sense to us? 'Cause I didn't understand JACK.

I'd just do in game what I'd do in real life, much violence and screamingly painful deaths that take many hours, I don't take kindly to people messing with my family.

I was thinking of putting in descriptions of stuff like clothing and car, but is that getting to analy precise?

Oh yeah, ODP, I might be in a bit of a different situation to other people, I live on 40 acres in a rural area, might make things a bit different for me than others.

Just thought I'd let you know.

Weeks from now, the gibberish on the radio might make some sense. Right now if it made sense to you I'd be a little worried. Your character is probably more than a little confused by it.

I certainly won't be offended if you want to go that route. I'll fully support whatever you want to do to help paint a more clear picture. It's not necessary, but it does help set the scene.

Oh yeah, is Kass a male or female?

Kass is female in fact this is Kass

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b266/Nyoibo/IMGP0131.jpg

I'll be wearing what I usually wear, which is black jeans steel toed boots and full length black leather coat.

And yess, my Bokken does actually live in my car, it's useful in road rage situations. :P

Strangely enough, I've actually done exactly what I'm doing now before.

I came out of a shop once and there was a guy hanging around my car, Kass was barking at him, when he realised I was going towards him he legged it, then I di just what I'm doing now, put the shopping in the car and followed him around the corner with a bokken under my coat.

At the moment my car actually has at least 4 weapons in it and a chain mail shirt. :P

Remind me to steal your car if if I'm ever in your neighborhood. So long as you and Kass aren't in it, anyway. :P

Oh yeah, Nyoibo - do you live alone, or is there anyone else on your massive plantation?

At the moment, I'm still taking things slow, not really making any assumptions (IE I didn't decide who was already in line to pay, for example, out of the people you had in there). If ya want me to make some at times, let me know.

Since you asked Nyoibo.. I have three kids living with me (17 14 and 10), a wife, a dog and two cats. I've set it up so that only the animals were home for your ease, since it avoids you having to RP real people you don't know, but I wouldn't really get emotional about my family dying in a RP game, so feel free if you want to to have me come home to a texas massacre scene.

*nod* Yeah, as I said to ODP in an e-mail.. though I do have a girlfriend and a roomate/tenant, it'd probably be easiest if I just pretend they don't exist...

I mean, let's not get started on the other crap I'd have to deal with, family, property and the like.

Either that, or, if you want, I could hook you up with a decent on-line dice roller.

Thanks! I'll have to check 'em out. I've got one that I use at work on lunch break, but it says "DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS DICE ROLLER" in huge letters, so I'm a bit self conscious about it. Regardless, I need to double-read the combat and surprise rules before I do anything. I've got some stuff to resolve for both you and DS right now.

Fair enough.. Invisiblecastle doesn't look overly conspicuous to me, after checking 'em out.

Edit: also, I like 'em because you can input pretty much anything you want. From a simple "1d20" to.. Well to anything, really.

The d20 Hypertext SRD has a nifty little dicer.

And about now is where I'm gripping the wheel, muttering, "ohfuckohfuckohfuckohfuckohfuck."

Heh.. ODP actually got it spot on..

More or less three houses down from mine, there's a dude who has parties once every two, three weeks.. in the meantime, he seems to always have people over.

So, really, odd vans parked in the driveway is.. a completely normal occurance.

As is me forgetting things in the car, like the reason for me leaving the house in the first place.

ODP, is it be too late to get in on this? Reading the prologue to Day 1 rekindled my interest and burnt away my mighty laziness. Okay, enough with the fire metaphor. But I'd like to join in, if you've no objections.

About the dice thing, if you really don't like the idea of having a dice roller site up..

You said the game only uses a d20 and a d6, right? Just generate a long list of both at home, and print it out, then when you need a roll, go down the list, marking 'em off.

Or just always use the same roll, for the day. That'd make for a weird game though "Oh shit guys, it's 'everyone miss' day!"

That's kinda funny. I went down the list of players to see who I think I'd recognize, and here's what I got.

For sure: ST
Probably: Lance and Elliot, with Nyoibo a bit lower
Big maybe: Seph, Hans a tad higher

Everybody else? Not so much.

Hmm.. interesting..

Assuming I was looking for them, I'd likely recognize

Nyoibo, Benevolance

Possibly CV, Barak, Elliot, DS, and Seph.

Sarabeth, KidD, and ED... not so much, but maybe.

And I have no idea what Lokan or Chai-Ta look like.. and while I've seen pictures of Hans, I doubt I'd recognize him simply because my mental picture of him looks absolutely nothing like his actual appearance.

They don't really use those here anymore either.. too obvious.

Besides, nowadays.. a laptop and an ear is really all you need.

Sorry for the slow and few updates today. An idea hit me like a two year old fruitcake and now I'm doing some research.

Oh yeah, and working. <_<

Barak gets three crazies. I get Mr. Polite-yet-menacing (And why the fuck isn't my asshole wearing a suit?). Nyo gets followed. Lokan gets a car bomb. DS outruns a guy and he gets flattened. Lance gets.. well, nothing yet, but likely followed. KidD gets followed home, ED gets followed, chai-tai gets followed...

And Seph gets a goddamn Pirate Sword! A $2.99 Pirate Sword at that!

I got In'n'Out, and I must say, there are times when I would value that above any Pirate Sword, even at $2.99.

Seph's sword looks something like this: except that that the metal is a sort of blue-black and the grip is black leather with silver wire wrapping. Also, there's a black gemstone in the hilt.

Assuming I didn't fuck it up, this is my house.

As in, the arrow pointy thing should be on the southern corner of my house.

So, that might help the map make more sense.

Because .. wait, don't you guys normally have kick ass weapons for as little as $2.95 down there? To help fend off the various poisonous critters?

Australia - Land of the world's poisonous snakes.. but it's okay, the spiders have eaten most of them..

And the deadly Montaba Virus, a virus so nasty it's often found mugging people for spare change to feed it's crack addiction, keeps the mongoose in line.

It's all about threat priority. You're obviously the most dangerous, so you get a heavier response.

As such, when ODP starts mine, I expect to get a strongly worded postcard.

ODP, my pistol crossbow will sink about 200-250 pages into a phone book.. but it's still not likely to be a lethal shot, unless I get damned lucky.

Dude's gonna have problems talking, though.

This game looks fucking awesome. I want in! (If it's not too late and there's room.) I'll look at the threads you told Kishi to check.

EDIT: I don't know though. You have a lot of people and are already taking on a lot more than you expected when you suggested the game. Maybe the four that haven't replied yet are dropping out and I can take one of them's place?

I don't want to get in the van, but I'm naturally inclined to be obedient of authority - especially when authority has guns pointed at me. I don't know what to do. :(

ODP - Just so I've got this right...the two guys are on either side of me with guns out? And they're standing 10 feet back? And the woman in the van has a gun out and trained on me as well.

So I'm sorta in the middle of a triangle of suckiness with three guns pointed at me, right?

Is there any way that I could swing one of the van doors shut as I climbed in, to give me some cover from the guys behind me, and then charge the driver and clock her with a good right hook? Preferrably without getting shot?

These guys probably know more martial arts than I do, too. I'm used to sparring in a 12 x 12 open ring. :(

BTW - how busy is it around right now. Are there people wandering about their business nearby?

You've got the scene just about right. You could indeed swing one of the doors shut as you get into the van. You might even be able to grab one of the steel cases in the van to use as a shield between yourself and the driver. It'd take a lot of luck, but you just might be able to pull such a maneuver off.

As for passers by, there are indeed a few people who occasionally drive by, and slow the hell down. It's not at all busy this time of day, but there's about two cars a minute who drive by. If you hazard a glance, it looks like anyone who sees your predicament rapidly tries to dial on their cell phones and then keeps driving.

Ok, I'll ask it in here, because the shoutbox is becoming too crowded.

Is the Emu guy still there or has he legged it? Because Emu legs break even easier that human legs.

He's still there - he hasn't gotten a chance to really run yet. He's about 4 or 5 meters away from you. Unfortunately, you're still *mostly* levitating, so you can barely make any forward progress at all. It's like you've got floaties on and are trying to walk in a swimming pool when your toes just barely touch the bottom.

There might be a way for you to break free of whatever he's using to levitate you...

... *read's Nyoibo's response*

Ah, there you go! :)

At least none of you have been hit with a shotgun slug :(

Ok, it was kinda a stupid move. I just can't stand still while someone is getting killed.
