For the past month, I've been itching to update a PBP. I've been popping in here, remembering where things were and where the story was going. Then I remember how long it takes to update a combat round and I get discouraged. Not to mention that Fugu has disappeared entirely into the aether.
I like D&D 3.5. I think it's excellent for tabletop gaming and it suits the Pandessa setting. But I like 3.5 better face to face, when the players can do half of the work! I'd like to move to something that puts more emphasis on the story, less on combat.
Part of that is deciding whether I want to continue this story or start another. I set this adventure hook up essentially as a dungeon crawl. I wanted to test out my new encounter spreadsheets and treasure generator. And I wanted to try out the counter-adventuring party idea. The minotaur gang, the angels...encounters that were against opponents who basically did what the party did.
Since that time, we had the discussion about shorter chapter objectives for PBPs in the Tabletop section. I'm enamoured with this idea, because it sets a more definite time frame, more obvious start and stop points for the adventures. It also creates good opportunities to pause between chapters, shuffle personel, etc.
I'm torn between just finishing this chapter up (basically, to fight the Weaver), or abandoning it in favour of a new game. I don't think it's worth the effort trying to retrofit this campaign to a different system.
