How do I know if he's put something on my computer like a keylogger or something to peer into my accounts????

Fresh install. Strong administrative password. Log off between sessions or lock computer between use. Or something.

Just take the typical precautions. Yeah, fresh install would help though if you have a prebuilt PC that will be hard unless you have a bootable "restore" partition with your systems HDD. Pretty sure programs like Ad-aware and Malwarebytes (all free) would detect such programs and infections. If you bank online then i would start to panic, otherwise there isn't much he can do. Just do as Lance advised and lock your computer between use. (You can change the way you log off under User account controls. Use the old skool method where all you have to do to lock the machine is Ctrl + alt + Del then press enter to lock. That is the speedy and hastle free method) In addition you can get free firewalls like....ummm.....drawing blank....oh ya. Zone alarm. I remember that one being good. If you use wireless internet then you can use your Wireless router as a sort of firewall. There are different settings if i remember to make your connection secure.

Zone Alarm Pro detects many keyloggers (other anti-spyware/malware programs *should*)
Check your registry if you know how to spot it. It will definitely show up there.
Check duplicate application processes (specifically rundll and iexplore or FF.. if Windows doesn't crash when you close duplicates, it wasn't a true rundll or explorer) That's a hard way to do it :)
Takes a long time but keyloggers usually are pulled up when you press Ctr-Alt-(another button). Example: Ctrl-Alt-Q; Ctrl-Alt-/
As I said.. takes a long time to check.

I support locking down your PC as Mike says. Even if he has one installed now, if he can't access it then he won't be able to read the logs. Also check behind your PC as some hackers use hardware loggers that plug into the keyboard port.

I'm using a laptop, so there's no way any peripheral hardware is installed.

Also running Vista with zone alarm. I don't know how to do a fresh install without losing everything I have on my computer.

Like I said, I'm probably just being paranoid.....I just wouldn't put it past him to do such a thing.

I think you are being overly paranoid. Which is good if people are actually out to get you, but less helpful when they are not.

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean people are not out to get you.
