Does The Media Heel For Obama?

Heya, folks. Wanted to stop back by and see what you all thought about this, since this site's community tends to be a little more liberal-leaning than the people I'm around day to day.
I'll preface this by saying I don't know a thing about newsbusters.org. For all I know, it could be a huge right-wing site maintained personally by Sean Hannity and Rush.
So:
http://newsbusters.o...e-heeling-obama
The gist of it is that a journalist is accusing his fellow journalists of failing to press Obama on any issue, failing to criticize him for having many policies mirroring those for which Bush was criticized, etc.

Here is how they describe themselves:
They are therefore on the conservative side. However, I never thought CNN was as horribly liberal as MSNBC until their coverage of the Tea Parties. Sure, the Republicans and Fox News took advantage of the organizing but to have a CNN reporter spout off nothing but Obama talking points while refusing to listen to who she was interviewing was amazing. The guy was ambushed and his answers were strictly on over-spending (anti-dem and anti-GOP) but the journalist wanted to hear none of it.
For any given news outlet, they either are sucking ass or attacking. Apparently we all have to choose a side.

Pretty much. I didn't really consider CNN all that biased until the coverage of the Election, really; that's when they kind of stood out on the left to me.
Just out of habit I still go to CNN.com for my news on a daily basis, but I've found myself checking Fox almost as often for political stuff.
It's hard out here for a political moderate. :(

I do close to the same. I check CNN.com mostly and glance at a couple others just to see what's being ignored by them. Everything is suspect. I'm considering getting involved in the upcoming Tea Party but I hate to admit it because it's being hijacked by the right wing in meaning something it's not. I don't like the spending. I didn't like it in the past 8 years and it's only getting worse. Merely mentioning it gets me labeled a right wing nut and a lecture that I paid less taxes (I'm not and I didn't).
I'm currently deciding whether to say screw it all to hell or get involved in advocating against both parties.

Actually, CNN itself also gave Obama an "incomplete" on his first 100 days of presidency. But then again, incomplete is not nearly as bad as a failing grade, so who knows.
Either way, I still find most Fox political flagship commentators too full of vitriol to actually take seriously.

Unfortunately, I have to sit through quite a bit of Fox News, no matter how much I vocalize to my father it is garbage. I do however find myself a bit of a fan of Glen Beck. Out of all of them he seems to have a bit more of a Libertarian leaning than most of them, and he was a huge supporter of the Tea Parties for what seemed like a geniune concern about the spending and (from watching previous shows of his) where the money was actually coming from, which if you don't know, out of thin air.

I tend to get most of my news off the internets (CNN or sometimes MSNBC) and its sporadic at best.
I would like to think that maybe the medica is giving the new prez a chance to prove himself. However, I know that is not the way of media. Perhaps they are stepping lightly for fear of racism accusations?
Also, would like to point out that when FDR made all those sweeping changes (and spending) in the first 100 days, his Congress was behind him. Seems like Obama is fighting his Congress, Democratic or not. I'm not sure I agree with the bailout, and the thought is that these fat cats spent a lot of money and spoiled themselves into bankrupcy; however, as has been mentioned ad nasueum in the news, if we do not bail them out, they are not really going to be hurting because I'm sure they have savings, but their workers are gonna be screwed.
BTW has anyone noticed how groceries and general items have gone up? Gas went down, and has stayed below the $2.00 mark around here, but those things you buy regularly (dog food, toilet paper, shampoo) have gone up quite a bit.

Elliot: You should have watched MSNBC especially Keith Olbermann. I'm guessing that MSNBC thought they could remake Fox News in a liberal way and gain such viewership numbers. He's pretty disgusting to hear while they seriously tell you it's news.
Obama was having a hard time with his own Dems because Reid and Pelosi are controlling the agenda. It's not so bad now that he *seems* to be falling in step with them and not moving to a centrist position anymore. The more he does so, the more things will suck as there is less check/balancing going on.
Fox News is now reportedly beating CBS evening news in viewership. That's not to mention beating the crap out of CNN and MSNBC together. Something screwy is going on. I wonder if people just don't want to hear the liberal slant or the recent tax spending has Fox gaining so much viewership. Liberal leaning news constantly talk about such things as global warming but it only ranks 12th on polls on pressing issues people are concerned about. Economics and terrorism are in the top 4.

Speaking as a Canadian, where the point of politics is to vote someone in and complain for 5 years about everything they do, I think it is natural to oppose the job your government does, no matter what that job is. So if the government leans left, the people start to lean right. Even if it means watching Fox News.
